From Publishers Weekly
Gardner, a columnist and senior writer for the Ottawa Citizen, is both matter-of-fact and entertaining in this look at fear and how it shapes our lives. Although we are capable of reason, says Gardner, we often rely instead on intuitive snap judgments. We also assume instinctively, but incorrectly, that [i]f examples of something can be recalled easily, that thing must be common. And what is more memorable than headlines and news programs blaring horrible crim (more…)

If you think a chip set is only used for placing bets and tallying winnings in a poker game, then you’re missing out on an entirely separate type of activity that can be done with the chips. Even though it’s not always an integral part of the game itself, the practice of doing expert tricks with the chips has become its own specialized sideline, and many a poker party now includes these as part of the entertainment. A player can project both a sense of flair and professionalism through his or her handling of the chips.
These tricks are something like coin tricks done by magicians, except that now and then other poker accessories are used to add dimensions that are particular to poker alone. Many of the tricks even have their own names, such as the “3-Fly,” “Drifter,” or “Grandma’s Shawl,” for example. Some involve twirling a chip around the fingers, the same way magicians make quarters roll over and over around their knuckles. Others are tricks of shuffling and re-shuffling. The “Grandma’s Shawl” uses Chinese-style chips, which involves threading something through the holes in their centers, and then managing to interchange them with chips that don’t have holes.
Some of these tricks are so elaborate that expert players have written books on how to do them, for example the 2006 book, “Chip Tricks: Look Like A Poker Pro” by Ross Watson and Jen Teti. With the help of volumes like these, and with those texts, photos and internet articles more recently augmented by videos posted on the internet on sites like YouTube and Flickr, even the novice player can now begin to learn how to use their special chip set to do entertaining tricks.
Those particular chip sets may contain chips that are notched or rigged (a practice known as “gaffing”) in order to perform specific tricks, but there’s a wide range of poker accessories that can cover every aspect of this entertaining part of the game. The number of resources available to the learner grows day by day, whether those involve illustrated books by experts, internet articles and video demonstrations, or even the acquisition of a special chip set containing chips specially designed for the more elaborate tricks.

There are very many kinds of systems of reiki symbols now. It is incredible. It seems there being so many different systems and their reiki symbols, that there would not be enough energy in the universe to get them all running. Learn a reiki without symbols here: reiki symbols
Thank god that chi is endless. Honestly, I can’t remember a system, and their reiki symbols, that has not worked. Why? In the beginning all we had was Usui and the handful of reiki symbols?
This is possible because its all about intention, and mental focus!
We experimented with this. We used the Usui reiki symbols, and made up our own for the purpose of channeling energy. Pure mental focus was able to produce similar effects that the Usui symbols could produce. Our conclusion: all that the symbols do is help to keep your mind connected to the moment, and focused.
If you focus on it enough, you can probably create any reiki symbol you want, and it will more than likely work.
The power of our thoughts is almost totally unexplored by the scientific community. But I think the potential of our thought fields are endless. Thus, it is your mind doing the work, not the symbols. I think this is the reason that all the thousands of systems and symbols out there work. This is not a bad thing. This is actually great! The power to channel life force energy through the mind is now coming to light. And these symbols are really helpful for people just beginning in the psychic spiritual realm, because it trains them to maintain mental focus. Experienced spiritualists and psychics no longer need symbols, because their very will is enough to channel energy. Learn a reiki, without symbols, here: reiki courses
Science, however, has proven that reiki has a real effect on the ill stricken. And they have managed test people who were born with the gift of healing as well. They found out that these healers hands emit 7.8 hertz. When most people emit 7-8 hertz. It seems that only about 5% of the entire population has this ability. Cool! But what is more amazing in my eyes is that about 99% of everyone on earth can heal through sheer mental focus. This has been proven through experiments where prayer groups have healed the sick, and through our little experiment as well.
The most important thing to remember is when using reiki symbols and mental powers, when channeling, or creating new systems do it for the good of all beings, of all reality. The good you do for others, you do for yourself. Learn a reiki, without symbols, here: reiki course

Making sports and other recreational activities a part of our lifestyle is not something different for us. This thing was very popular when our parents were kids. It was a very normal act when children at that time were encouraged to participate in sports and other activities. It constituted a very important and integral part of their everyday routine. But times have changed now. And surely not for the good!
Today kids and youngsters are more attracted towards living a comfortable lifestyle and sports like baseball, soccer and football have taken a back seat. Fun and entertainment no longer means group activities and team sports and is limited to video games and watching movies. All this might not look very bad but it surely is. When kids refrain from taking part in sports like soccer and football not only do they harm their health but at the same time are not able to add valuable qualities to their personalities. The qualities of team spirit, leadership as well as healthy competition which sports like soccer and baseball impart are left behind.
All of us should make a sincere effort towards altering the attitude of kids towards sports. For this it is vital that these recreational activities be made attractive and alluring so as to appeal to kids. This is what has been happening in reality too. Big institutional giants and well known companies have come forward and have tried to do their bit towards this issue. Companies like Herballife have displayed their concern towards this issue and have taken up the sponsorship of the of the soccer club LA Galaxy. Similar moves by other companies have pumped in huge money in the field of sports and made them an appealing option for kids to consider and imbibe .
